An overview of exceptionality through the lifespan, perspectives on diversity and the family, and people who are exceptional to include intellectual and developmental disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, sensory and physical disorders, communication disorders, autism and spectrum disorders, learning disabilities and gifted, creative and talented individuals. Definitions, classifications, characteristics, causes, identification and assessment, interventions and treatments will be addressed for each exceptionality.
