NUR 112 - Nursing Science II Credits: 8 Lecture Hours: 5 Lab Hours: 2 Clinical Hours: 6
Students focus on providing safe and evidence-based care to patients requiring surgery. In this clinical course the utilization of nursing judgment promotes adaptation of pathophysiologic aspects specific to adults and children experiencing accidental trauma, surgical interventions, burns, musculoskeletal trauma, gynecological, biliary and eye diseases. Complex psychomotor skills for the practice of professional nursing are included in the two-hour weekly college laboratory. Students care for patients in a variety of settings during the weekly six-hour clinical. The course may be repeated two times provided the student scores a 3 or better on the re-entry rubric, is granted re-entry by the Appeals Committee, and has not used the appeals process for any other nursing course. Notes: NUR 112 has 6 clinical hours per week in addition to the 5 lectures and 2 labs. Prerequisite(s): C grade or better in BIO 131 ; C or better in NUR 105 and NUR 107 ; Concurrent enrollment in BIO 132 A minimal grade of C is required to continue to NUR 213 and NUR 215
