MUS 201 - The History of Music Before 1750 Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 This course is designed for musicians and requires prior knowledge of music. Students study the place of music in Western civilization, through representative works of each period. It entails a comprehensive, chronological study of the periods and schools of vocal and instrumental music, sacred and secular, and a study of the beginnings of Western music thought in ancient Greece to the end of the Baroque era in 1750.
