ITL 102 - Elementary Italian II Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 1 Italian 102 is a continuation of ITL 101 and thus continues the study of sounds, structure and grammatical concepts but with a growing emphasis on conversational ability. It is, ideally, the second step of a sequence, which would include ITL 101 , 102, ITL 201 and ITL 202 . An attempt is made to familiarize students with the three language skills: listening comprehension, speaking and writing. An hour a week of independent lab work, which involves listening to tapes, which accompany each lesson, is a requirement of the course and will help the student in the comprehension and speaking skills. Italian 102 would be appropriate for someone who has successfully completed ITL 101 or a student with two years of high school Italian. Native speakers should contact the Department to determine their level and what courses they may take for credit.
