ENG 003 - Composition I Module Credits: 3 Lecture Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 0 ENG 003 is designed as a course to be paired with ENG 101 . Students take both courses together in order to receive additional support and reinforce the writing skills they will learn in ENG 101 . Both ENG 101 and ENG 003 concentrate primarily on expository and argumentative writing; traditional rhetorical modes; and effective composing, revising, and editing strategies. Students in ENG 003 will focus on generating new material, gathering sources for the research paper, drafting, and revising. Students learn to formulate a thesis, use topic sentences, develop ideas, and organize supporting evidence in an essay. Grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and clear language are emphasized. Prerequisite(s): WritePlacer score of 3, 4, or 5 or completion of ENG 091 with a grade of C to A- Corequisite(s): ENG 101
