ELT 216 - Automation Systems

A study of the computer-based control systems found in a wide variety of industry applications, including their use in manufacturing processes. The course will include a review of control system components, including sensors, relay logic, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs), leading up to a complete study of microprocessor-based control systems. Topics include PLC wiring and programming, sensors and actuators in an automated assembly line, and process control. All learning will be paired with hands-on experience on lab equipment.
Prerequisite(s): ELT 217  with a grade of C or better or permission of the department
