ECH 107 - Preparing to Teach Young Children Credits: 2 Lecture Hours: 2 Lab Hours: 0 The study of the skills and concepts needed to enter the classroom as a teacher of young children emphasizing the translation of theory into practice. Topics include: communicating with children and parents, groups and transition times, daily routine, guidance, developing a lesson plan, daily and weekly planning methods, health and safety, initial consideration of evaluation and portfolios as well as personal philosophy and professionalism. Notes: This course must be taken with or prior to ECH 108 . Prerequisite(s): ECH 101 , ECH 102
